This impressive figurehead is a true a one of a kind, and is my most detailed one yet! She has a stunning face, crown and brilliant baroque style scrolls flanking each side of her full dress. The sculpture is large and leans out from the wall perfectly. I created this galleon figure to easily fit coastal-nautical (lake house, beach house), French styles, Baroque, Art Nouveau, cottage, shabby, Bohemian and other styles.
I painted and distressed her, giving her an aged patina. Her hair, eyes, accents in her dress and baroque scrolls are painted in my own homemade liquid gold. Her skin tone is a very fair creamy color. The dress has been painted and textured in several homemade gray colors. I wanted her dress to appear almost velvet until you walk up to her and see that it is distressed and amazingly detailed. The embellishments are all clear vintage rhinestone jewel pieces and trim in gold and silver. Some stones may show a hint of age however most are '"never used" pieces. I created the tall well made metal crown, then gave it a rusted aged patina. The adornments are high quality rhinestone trim and a very large rhinestone seahorse.
This piece looks heavy but is made from a composite.
She does come with a hook on the back.
Why do I make the eyes gold? I wanted to keep with what the figureheads signified. Most were solid carved wood and painted to look beautiful and strong. They were protectors of the ship and men. It is said that a ship could only find it's way if it had eyes. I didn't want to lose the ethereal and slightly eerie appeal that these figures had. All my figureheads represent the created pieces from times past. I want all of my figures to have a sea worthy appeal and have that same important feel. I do not duplicate my figureheads. Each one has her own look. You can google "Anita Spero Design figureheads' to see many others that I have created.
She measures: 36" tall and 14" wide.
*All my pieces are individually made and can't be duplicated.
